The Japan You Can't Find in Guidebooks.

Sightseeing shows you the surface. We invite you beneath it.

We are Nagomi Local Experience. Located just minutes from Kansai International Airport (KIX), our 80-year-old traditional home in Kaizuka offers a sanctuary away from the crowds. Whether you are seeking the quiet mindfulness of calligraphy or the electric energy of Osaka's food culture, we bridge the gap between 'visitor' and 'local.'

Don't just watch Japan pass by. Live it with us.

The Rhythm of the Seasons

Every season brings a new ritual to our home. These are the experiences that only happen at the right time of year.

Summer Purification Noodles

Nagoshi Somen (流しそうめん)

On the last day of June, Japan holds the Nagoshi no Harae—a purification ritual to cleanse the first half of the year and pray for health in the months ahead. In our home, we celebrate with Nagoshi Somen.

Roasted Sweet Potato Season

Yakimo (焼き芋)

As the leaves turn gold and the air cools, a beloved sound returns to Japanese streets—the slow, melodic call of the Yakimo vendor's truck. Roasted sweet potato, or Yakimo, is Japan's quintessential autumn comfort food.

New Year Mochi Pounding

Mochitsuki (餅つき)

In winter, the sound of kine (wooden mallet) hitting usu (mortar) echoes through Japan. Mochi pounding, or Mochitsuki, is a communal celebration of the New Year.

What Travelers Say

Real reviews from guests around the world.

Absolutely the highlight of our entire Japan trip. We visited on a weekday morning and had the whole home to ourselves. Aya was so warm and patient — she walked us through every room, explained the Buddhist altar, and then made us the most beautiful bowl of matcha. The calligraphy session was something I will never forget. My fan is now framed on my wall back in Seattle.
